Hit from the rear end by a gal in an argument with her boyfriend. Knocked me off the road. Rolled down a hill. 4 times. Walked away

Smile Making the rotor swap!

I made the change two years ago, made this little ride much more enjoyable to drive.

Mine had them when I got it. So I can't compare to the smaller rotors. I just know I have good brakes !!

Well, that lists a 10.86" rotor. But that's not saying what they actually put on it. Maybe there was an SS in line before or after it and it got the wrong brakes....
was it used, possibly upgraded by previous owner?

Chang to larger rotors

My little ride is a 2011 and had the small 10.86 rotors on it when I bought it in 2016 June. I worked as a toolmaker for 30 years in a GM assembly plant in the chassis department. So now you know my background you kind of know how I think. The original rotors I noticed were warped. So first thing I tried was set of grooved and drilled holes but very little change. I had said it was two years since the change but actually three years. Back to the process I joined this HHR/forum (June-2016) and noticed someone had mentioned the larger rotor change so after looking into the required parts I went for. If there is one major complaint concerning these vehicles it’s the brakes and a lot of people have traded off their HHR’s because of it. I found the necessary brakes which spaces the brake calipers higher up to clear the larger diameter rotors. My brackets came from O’Reillys Auto Parts, you need to order the bracket for an SS model which is for the larger 11.65 rotors, good luck.

One other thought use ceramic pads and your HHR’s rotors will love you, but don’t buy the cheapest rotors you can find. A lot of aftermarket rotor are made junk mixed in with cast iron (from China) and under heat from use will be unstable and warp.
