Steering help please

Put in new control arms last weekend due to 224K miles annihilating the rear bushings. Front end is much more solid. However I went in to get an alignment and they told me my inner tie rods need to be replaced. Ok no big deal but was going to it it myself. I have a LT with the FE1 suspension but it seems many manufacturers only spec. inner rod ends for the FE3 and FE5 suspension. Is there really any difference in the inner tie rod between the FE1, FE3, and FE5? Anyone else done this, and if so what parts did you use?

Also, seems the control arm replacement has tripped the ESC. I believe this is like cause the steering wheel is now ****ed about 30 degrees. So hoping the alignment will fix it.

Thank for your help.

So if I am going by the part numbers, there is NO difference in the INNER tie rod on any of the 3 suspension options. Am I correct in that?

The FE1 and 3 are the same. Don’t purchase any FE5 parts unless you have an SS

That is what I thought. It seems odd that Moog and even ACDelco (looking at rockauto) calls out INNER tie rod end for the FE3 and FE5. That is why I ask. Even NAPA calls them out for only those to RPO and nothing for the FE1.

There are inner tie rod ends on a rack and pinion ? Correct me if I'm wrong.

FE1 does not exist in replacement parts FE3 is functionally equivalent. Moog has incorrect listings for most FE5, their book says "fits all"; I don't know if the tie rod ends are different or not I do know the ball joints are different.

I did get the Moog catalog manager to tell me they would change their listing for sway bar end links. Don't know if they did.

If you want to compare OE part numbers you should go to a few different online GM stores and check there. GMpartsgiant.com,, GMpartseast.com, etc. there are lots of them with online GM catalogs.

GM parts catalogs do NOT show any replacement for the INNER tie rod for a 2011. I can't feature why the FE3 and FE1 would have a different tie rod.

Cause most parts books end the HHR at 2010.
the FE 1 and FE 3 parts are identical, in the aftermarket

inners are listed in RockAuto
