Suspension interchangeability!!

Hi Everyone!!!
I'm a first time poster, and I have a question, I am replacing the control arms on my 2007 HHR LT, and I would like to know if I can use the FE control arms, as they look like they will handle the Michigan roads far better, is this possible?....any help would be greatly appreciated THANK YOU!!!

Which FE control arms are you talking about? FE-1/3/5?

FE1/3 are the same units - FE-5 are for the SS versions (not compatible IIRC).

The above units are CAST, not stamped steel (those were for the Cobalt, but will fit apparently).

X2 what whopper stated. The FE5(SS) have a different size ball joint than the FE1/3 's.

There is a lot of mis info posted on different parts sites. Be careful when looking up HHR suspension parts. Especially Ebay listings that have been known to be inaccurate a lot.

x2 what FMG states - check out these part numbers at Autozone.com - Part Number: 521-025 and Part Number: 521-026. that is what they should look like (and are what I used) - and note they include the Ball joint, and both bushings all pre-installed.

IF you know what you are doing you can replace just the bushings, the replacement ones look like they may give a much harder feel. The stock bushings have cut outs in them, that probably A.) gives a softer ride and B.) takes rougher roads longer before breaking.
