I'm considering buying an HHR SS and throwing airbags on it. Right now I have an 05 Chevy Colorado that I'm working on putting a bag setup on. It's going to lay frame and definitely be tucking wheels.

As far as the bag setups I've seen for the HHR on YouTube and this site, it looks like the current airbag kits give mild drops. It's not laying frame by any means. I haven't looked into this thoroughly but is this due to the setup of the bag systems or the HHRs. I have no problem with cutting fenders and relocating stuff if need be.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to be able to setup an HHR to lay flat?

EDIT: Forgot to mention-- I would run 20x8.5 245/35/20 or skinnier

 

There are a few on here with bagged hhrs, but I think to drop all the way requires raising the suspension mount points. Im sure someone with more experience will chime in here.

Yeah, there we go. That's what I'm looking to do. I just don't want to go that big of wheels. 20's would be more appropriate. Way less work to do.

 

well when i had my 99 Monte Carlo i had to raise my strut towers, rebuild my front wheel well, minitub the rear of the body, and make adjustments to the dead axle on the rear.

if any decent shop were to do this work you are looking at 5-6 weeks downtime and about 6-7K for an airbag setup if its a simple 2 compressor setup with something like 380's and a 12 gallon tank. if you want more you are looking at 10K ish.

the details are very hard to explain, but unibodydropping an HHR is harder than laying your truck on the frame. If your insurance finds out about either your car or truck it can drop you from full coverage, put a salvage title on your ride, and you cannot do anything about it since you modified the safety equipment of the vehicle.

AIRDHHR is on his way to laying out his on 22's...just watch.

 

its a scion, but it has a raised strut up front and the rear is very doable on our cars.
