extended warrenty for my off-lease

i just bought an off-lease 06 with 50,000 on it

do guys think it's worth it to get the extended warranty that covers 2 years 100,000km for an extra $2000.

what do you guys think

good or bad idea?
i'm really on the fence with this, and i'm not sure if the dealer will let me cancel it now that i've signed all the papers

I never buy extended warranties on anything. Put the money aside instead and pay for whatever breaks as it happens. After a few years doing this with many purchases, you'll be way ahead. It's a gamble, but it's heavily weighted towards the dealership.

But that's just me.

You can get back out of it they keep a percent of the money for the time remaining. You can wheel and deal these extended warrenties. They are cheaper when you buy the car new though.

For me I wanted more time than milage so $2,000 for 2 years would be a waste of money. If you are going to run out of milage before your 2 years it may work for you.For $2,000 I would have thought you could do better on the time side.

I went with 8 years/80,000 KM for $1,500 and I will be at 5,000 KM for it`s 2nd year.I have more problems with power windows and air condition systems on older cars.I have no concerns about the powertrain at all as are house hold has 3 GM`s over 250,000 KM and 2 over 180,00.I sent 2 perfect running rust bucket GM`s to the scrap yard last because they were worth more at $240 a ton.

thanks guys

i just talked to the dealer and they say i have 90 days to cancel the warranty.

my only concern is murphy's law

if i cancel it the car will be a lemon, and if i keep it the car will be the perfect car.
