Looking for Directions: Vernon to Vancouver
Hey folks,
I'm starting to plan a summer road trip/camping trip. It will likely be during the first week of July (Canada day holiday.)
I'm thinking the stop will be in Vernon for a couple of nights and then off to Vancouver. I'd like some input on the best way to get to Vancouver from Vernon.
Mapquest tells me it is quickest to take the 97c to highway 5 and then to Hope and the 1. I've never been through this way. What is the 97c?
We've typically taken the 5 all the way from Kamloops. Would it be quicker or better to head back to Kamloops from Vernon instead of taking the 97c?
Thanks folks!

If your already in Vernon heading to Vancouver it is better to take the 97c it is 4 lanes most of the way if I remember correctly. 97c is the main freeway from Vancouver/Merritt to Kelowna so its traveled a lot. Plus this way you can stop into Kelowna to if ya want.

I don't have a specific plan for Vancouver yet. I remember staying at a campground near the north end of the lions gate bridge many, many years ago. I don't know if that is still around or not. We've also previously stayed at a campground in Burnaby. But I remember it being close to the train track and hearing the trains running by in the evening.
We've decided to skip the Okanagon this year and head down to Osoyoos instead for 5 nights. After that we're heading to Vancouver for 2 or 3 nights.
Should be a good time.
