looks great !just bought a 2010 panel. how did you debadge ??

Oldblue 01-16-2016 11:06 AM

Welcome to the site, Jim! I'm not sure who you're directing the debadging question to, so I'll give you my method, dental floss, double strand, get it into the 3M tape behind the badge and move in a sawing motion to cut thru the tape, any residue I roll off with my thumb, then a spritz of rubbing alcohol.

DwRed2LT 01-17-2016 08:34 AM

75%. Born in 1954 makes it tough to know early 50s cars. I got interested in cars in 67-8.

Oldblue 03-04-2020 03:33 PM

I’m a ‘54, got interested way earlier, thanks Dad!! He was a car guy

Doc brown 03-04-2020 03:39 PM

88%. It was a couple of those Chryslers.

sleeper 03-04-2020 09:45 PM

Well this is a Blast from the Past.. I'm a 55 vintage, & born a car guy. Dad saw to that.

You got 88% (42 right out of 48). The average score is 73%.

I got buggered up on Canadian vs USA models, and the Nash's and Kaisers..

Blue_SS 03-05-2020 05:02 PM

79% Those Kaisers and Willys... but I was born AFTER all these were built (64), so I tried...

sleeper 03-05-2020 08:50 PM

You got 90% (43 right out of 48). The average score is 73%.

You would think, me playing the same game as yesterday I should get 100%.................Nope, but I gained 1 on it.. LOL

Doc brown 03-06-2020 07:28 AM

You are a glutton for punishment! Get out while the gettin's good!

sleeper 03-06-2020 09:20 PM

Ok, the 3 fender emblems mean, not a Road Master, so thinking Special.

1950 or '51 Buick Special w/ straight 8.

Oldblue 08-30-2020 08:02 AM

1951 Buick Super.

sleeper 08-31-2020 11:06 PM

Seems like Bonez is not gonna tell us I was right.. LOL

sleeper 09-02-2020 09:33 PM

Bonez, are ya out there ?

Oldblue 10-02-2020 08:25 PM

Don’t leave us hanging man! Enquiring minds just gots ya know!
What is it, Bonez, what is it?

sleeper 10-02-2020 11:34 PM

If you look in his pics you will get the answer. And revealing this, I must disqualify my answer.................................

Oldblue 10-03-2020 07:44 AM

? A Roadmaster is supposed to have 4 portolets per side.

Greybeard999 10-03-2020 07:48 AM

There is a chrome emblem on the trunk lid that says "Special"

But, that's none of my business...

sleeper 10-03-2020 08:30 PM

Blue- I never said it was a Road Master, I did say it was NOT one.

Oldblue 10-04-2020 07:08 AM

I’m just indicating the number of portolet’s , nothing to do with your post, Sleeper.
As for the script in the trunk lid , the photo is to grainy to read it. That and it’s easy to stick a nameplate or badge on a car to make it something it’s not! Like or trucklets and people who stick SS badges on the doors of an LT or LS

Lonwane 10-04-2020 08:15 AM

And, back in the 50's badges were bolted on.

Oldblue 10-04-2020 09:37 AM

Well whatever it is, I like it!

sleeper 10-04-2020 08:17 PM

Well the old owner posted what he said it was at the pics.. So there's that... And I like it too.

LOL sorry didnt see it...
It is a 51 Buick Special Hardtop ( rare as most had side posts )
It started by pressing the gas pedal down ( pretty cool )
An ex girlfriend got it from her boss as a Christmas gift instead of a pay raise ( he had too many cars and wife was making him downsize )
I helped her work on it, after she got married it sat in the field at their farm and I acquired it after 10 years. I rewired it and redone the entire interior in silver crushed payne and paint over the winter season in my basement.
After owning it a few years mainly sitting in my garage only driven occasionally on the weekends I sold it to a collector. If I would have kept it I would have chopped and dropped it as well as drop a built motor and trans in it, the original torsion suspension floated like a boat.

sleeper 11-02-2020 08:17 PM

Well there it is....Cool Beans..

Greybeard999 11-02-2020 08:28 PM

Yeah... It's a Special, but go ahead, don't believe me... wadda' I know
