I actually ended up going to o reillys to grab the gm8206 shafts. I had them pull the bearing set for the car and fitted the shaft perfectly into it. The shaft is made for the malibu I believe. Benn running them for awhile now and they have been working fine, even on my 425 hp hhr :lol:

I I know this an old post but I was wondering if the same axle was for both sides, this is being a real pain in the butt thanks GM

The axles are the same from one side to the other. The manual transmission uses a different shaft than the automatic. Here is the discussion about SS axle shafts.
