ESC and Traction problems

Question ESC and Traction problems

I forgot to unplug my GPS while my 2010 automatic was parked for a couple of weeks and the battery went flat.
I got it charged up with a charger @ 2 amps and cranked it. The ESC service light stays on and the TCS switch does not seem to turn the TCS on or off so the light stays on. When I drove the car it would not shift to high gear and ran about 4000 rpms for 50 mph
I had the seat belt lights etc act funny at first then they straightened them selves out. The manual talks about resetting the stuff to default but I cannot find the button they talk about in the manual.
I called the Chevvy place and they can only talk about $95.00 for a diagnostic hook up before anything:gnonespet

Oh I forgot the check engine light stays on too

Now for the questions:

How long did you charge it for? A 2 amp charger will take a LONG time (like a day or two or more for a full charge).

Did you charge it directly at the battery?

Did you measure the voltage of the battery once it was charged?

How old is the battery?

Can't comment on the engine check light unless you quote the downloaded code from the CEL.

There is no button to reset to default. If you disconnect the NEGATIVE post on the battery for 5 minutes that will do a simple reset in most cases.

X2 with Whopper ! Depending on the age and condition of the battery it may take a full charge.
I would disconnect both terminals and remove the battery to recharge it and lay a towel over the rear gate latch cause I know you're gonna close the hatch and then realize the battery is out here so no power to the hatch release switch which would result in a Homer Simpsonish D'Oh

Thanks guys I will go and disconnect the battery for a while.
I bought the car in December with 35000 miles on it. Its a pristine 2010 that I chose over a 2011 which actually cost $200 less for a cash buy.
I really like this little car and I intend to keep it for a long time. My last car was a 1998 CRV AWD which my grandson borrowed and would not give it back so I had to sell it to him. I think I like the HHR more and it has a better rear cargo deck for when I travel to shooting matches around the country what am I doing wrong?

I disconnected the front terminal of the battery which broke the circuit and let it sit there for about 5 mins then hooked it back up. When I started the car the engine light is still on and the ECS TCS is still requiring service . Any other ideas?

If you mean the red terminal up front under the hood, then wrong terminal!
As stated the battery is in the spare tire well out back below the cargo floor!

Ok Thanks I did not know the battery was all the way back there I thought that thing up front looked like a smaller battery. I will try that tomorrow. The battery is fully charged and its in good shape
