P0842 Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch

P0842 Transmission Fluid Pressure Switch

Transmission shifting hard.
P0842 along with P0700 pulled at the Zone.
Any idea if the Tranny Fluid Switch is an external part to the transmission?

There is a possibility you have a wiring problem. When the switch is OPEN or disconnected the signal is HIGH. The switch is Normally Closed, so I'm guessing being stuck open is odd.

At least that's how I read it the first time.

Well to close the story, my transmission was repaired previously by Edwards Transmission in Indianapolis, and for the second time in 90 days it went back for repair.
The pressure switch and something to do with the torque converter control were supposedly replaced this time. The previous repair was for a torque converter that came loose after a tranny rebuild ($2,500)

Edwards has great customer service, too bad their crummy repair requires customer service. So if your needing repairs in Indy, don't go to Edwards, unless you enjoy friendly customer service.

2011 HHR has code P0842 tourque converter clutch engaged.

I took it to Aamco and tech. Said it was a leaky seal on the torque converter. Repire would require pulling the transmission and replace the torque converter, $2000 plus parts.
I didn't schedule the work and still driving the car. Hoping to get another option but not sure how many are available. BTW when the transaction is cold it all works normally.
When it's hot the torque converter clutch stays engaged until the car almost comes to a complete stop, almost stalling the engine.
I was wondering if I could cut the wire to the switch that controls the clutch and drive it with benefits of having a clutch.
At 70 MPH when the clutch engaged the RPMs drop about 500.

You could go to a different shop. AAMCO is one of the high labor rate places, not to mention the bad reputation (my personal opinion).
