Some Fun for the Day, No Clutch Driving Home from Parkland
Well interesting day at Parkland. Clutch started slipping real bad on the way there. A long time ago i noticed the clutch smelling after a lil fun just after i bought it and car had 30,000 miles on it then so i knew i would need it sooner or later
started back and it started chattering and then it just went out as i got on the freeway. so i drove it from parkland all the way home w no clutch and just used the gas to slip it in gears. around 25 miles w no clutch to get home.
went thru a strip mall parking lot to avoid a light and get home and got it in 3rd gear and made it home thru the Sachse area using 3rd gear till i got into my driveway and got it in neutral so we can tow it to Brandons to get it replaced.
Will take a lil while to get the money to order the Clutchmaster Stage 3 clutch and parts. Around a $1000 total so get it installed.

If the cluch was shot, how did you drive it at all? Wasn't it slipping badly?
I drove a friend's car home years ago without using the clutch when his clutch cable broke, but the clutch itself was good. It was a small car and you could start it in gear, so I used the starter to get going the few times I had to stop.
Once in a while, I practice no-clutch-pedal shifting using rev matching in my HHR for fun. If you match revs it's as smooth as using the clutch.

Fastsuv, I believe that's what he was talking about is using the RPM's to shift. I have practiced this in my HHR as I had my clutch go out on my 1LT 2.2 approx 30k miles ago.. No fun when you are trying to accelerate and next thing you know, you can't.
