I'm still browsing online for a 2.4 with manual trans but I'm finding that a lot of the ones listed as manual on the car search apps are actually automatics when you look at the interior pics.

For the ones that list as manual but don't have interior pics, is there anything in the VIN number string that indicates transmission type?

I hate calling dealerships because the sales people always act like they can't answer your questions and want to "get your number or email address and get back to you". We all know what happens once they have your contact info.

In most years the HHR is a "light duty truck". The 8th digit is the engine. Trans is digit 5&6.
