Has anyone out there heard of this? Their claim is up to 30% (gas) and 18% (diesel) and use of lower octane fuel. I'm thinking with $6.00 + regular looming over us it might be worth a shot. Any opinions are welcome. And Thanks.

 

$6.00 looming? Why so much? I just payed $3.75 a gallon, the other day, and today the same station is down 2 cents.
I can not comment on the product, but I have found very few products over the years that can actually back up their claims. And I did not see a price anywhere on their web site.

If you're speaking about mixing diesel with gas for better mileage.....

I did it many years ago, before the unleaded gas thing, in a 350 Oldsmobile. Saw maybe 2 mpg....but I wouldn't swear to it. I was talked out of continuing by GM engineers, because of the potential harm it could do then. And the mixture had to be exact. Pretty difficult at station pumps and fuel still in the tank. At some point, the mixture would be greatly diluted.

I wouldn't even think of it currently, with the computer systems an temperamental nature of current engines. Probably do more harm than good.

Snake oil!!! Check out the Technical page at their web site - there is nothing there but their claims - no technical info at all. You would be better off putting small tires on the front, and bigger ones on the back so the car rolls downhill all the time. ;-)

 

Their is only one way to find out. First buy some of the product. Then before using it make good records of your MPG with 3 tank fulls to get a good average. Then add the product and record the MPG with 3 tanks with the additive. Then let everyone know the results.

 

Anything that claims higher than a 3-5% increase by bolting something on the engine or pouring magic elixir in the tank is just a scam.

As far as the price of gas, while I have no doubt that some day we'll be paying $5+ a gal, there are and have been many scare stories over the last few years about how high its quickly going to jump to. In late spring all the "experts" came out of the woodwork saying how we'd be paying $5 by the end of August. I saw regular near my house this morning at $3.37. Just a few years ago we all thought $4 gas would stop us from driving, taking trips, etc, etc. It didn't. We just factor in the cost. Sure, we may $6 gas, but not for a very long time.

 

i drive a lot. And since i spend about $ 1500.00 a month on fuel i spend some time working on mpg issues. The only thing i have found is to keep my fuels system clean. And lucas fuel treatment seems to work the best not only in my 2001 Diesel excursion which just got 21 mpg on a 26 hour straight run from Las Cruces New Mexico to Young Harris Georgia. But also in my HHR Panel which has averaged 29 mpg for the first 190,000 miles. Which is pretty good for an suv shaped like a brick and is comfortable and fun to drive.
