Madison WI to Reno Nv

I took longest road trip since had my HHR from Madison to Reno to the Air races I got great gas mileage, with a trip total of 127 gals. I burned less gas coming back. I learn that when the Low Fuel warning comes on theres still 3 gals in the tank. What an interesting road trip.

Did you calculate your average fuel economy for the trip? It would interesting to see the overall MPG.

That's not too bad... so you averaged somewhere around 30ish MPG overall. I wonder why the difference between going there and coming back. Different conditions maybe?

Tail wind going back? Different gas? A lot of stations on the northern route of the U.S. pump "regular" unleaded. Maybe used different gas.

I generally get better mileage going east on the Interstates to the east coast and mid central states.....except in Nebraska, Iowa. They use a lot of ethanol to boost octane. So even using a premium fuel (cheaper than regular unleaded) I got less MPG.

But his answers would be interesting.

Oh I always run 5mph over the speed limit so most of the way I was running about 80 mph except in constuction zone and there lots of them.

Snoopy is all over it. I run the southern route. Will go to phoenix in a couple of weeks from the north ga mountains. Tail wind coming back. will average about 29 mpg. Have noticed mpg have gone down some now that i am close to 200,000 on the odometer. Plus it is downhill from west to east. New mexico is mostly over 4,000 ft above sea level.
