I remember when unleaded was 87 cents a gallon as recently as 1997. The only reason I remember that is it was my first year of college and the town the school was in had ALOT cheaper gas than my hometown.

In the summer of 1997 I was working at a 7-11 gas station and on July 11th (7/11) they sold regular unleaded for 71.1 cents as a promotion for 3 hours. We had lines all day so I don't remember what the regular price was.

1972: 32 cents in Philadelphia, Pa.My father said there was a "gas war" and I was looking for guns sticking out of gas station windows, but most were closed on Sundays.

i started driving in 2000 and i remember regular unleaded being right around 1.15. I had a white sunbird convertible and i could fill it up for like 10-15 bucks. I remember being a little astounded the first time it took over 15. i think the last time i filled the jimmy up before i got rid of it it took around $55....

times have changed in the short time i've been driving...

I remember my dad complaining about gas prices at 25 cents per imperial gallon. That's going back!

I remember filling my 66 Pontiac Catalina 389 CI 2bbl(25 gallon tank) for $11 bucks with high test back in the day and the pumps only had 3 places in the dollar field.

I was just looking through an old log book I had and the car would get 17-19 mpg and gas was selling for $0.40-0.45/gallon circa 1972.
