I bought mine on May 5th, Cinco de Mayo, and got the $4k rebate which meant I didn't feel I had to haggle... well, I haggled for a couple hundred bucks more anyway.

I paid $16,500 for my LS, doesn't really have options but its got a donut*spare tire instead of nothing, and it has USB on the radio. It also has OnStar, dunno if that is standard or not. Oh, it has floor mats and a cargo mat.

Cowdog, was that 16,500 the final "here's the keys~drive it off the lot" price?

Good luck, John, it's a cool car. It's best to get a few dealer quotes to use them against each other. I made it known to my dealer that I had another quote that was lower, but when I called the other dealer, they were using an additional $1,000 loyalty rebate, which my dealer knew they were using since their offer was $1,000 lower. I think the sticker price on my car was $19,800 or something, so the $15,299 online quote I received was more than just $4,000 off.

If I remember right, I received the quotes after filling out the form on "whypaysticker.com" and putting in my e-mail address and zip code.

And they tried to sell me the exterior/interior protection package for $900, and then the finance guy was really pushing the extended warranty thing, which was $1,600 for the full-blown package, and $800 for the basic, which he kept lowering, down to $600 but ONLY covering repairs during the 2 years between the end of the 36 mo. bumper-to-bumper warranty and the 60 mo. payoff. I stood my ground.

Just FYI,

The LT trim level has a $4,000 factory to dealer incentive. My dealer put the full amount towards the purchase of my 2LT... all I had to do was ask about it

MSRP: $23,490
My price (before T/T): $18744.04

Smile Rebates etc.

We bought a new 09 LT1 on May 13, with the 2.4l, chrome stuff, auto & some other goodies. Here in the rust belt, the incentive is $4500 dealer cash, that's pre sales tax, so add another $303.75 in savings. Before a $3000 trade the total was $15,720 out the door for a $23,220 sticker Aqua Blue Metallic HHR. Another dealer had a loaded LT2, leather, sun roof, everything. I tried to buy that car, with 25K+ sticker. No dice, no discount. It went on the net last week at $16,998, lasted one day.
I am happy as clam, because momma loves her HHR.

Aw'ight done the deal tonight! I pick it up Monday as I work tomorrow and I'll be out of town for the weekend starting Friday evening. There was a lot of hollering and shouting between two dealers....but the bottom line is $17,000 flat, new tag, and no trade in. The 17K includes taxes...ect.
