Those are some pretty nice castings! Do they make a Cobalt Kit that we would be able to use for the drive line, etc?

Haven't seen any kits, diecasts, etc. of a cobalt. I plan on using a modified GM FWD platform from older plastic kits...Beretta, Grand Prix, etc. as the basis for the HHR underpinnings. If we press on with this project, money can be saved by NOT including an engine (curbside) & concentrating on getting the body details spot on, depends on what people want.

If Modelhaus does one of these, they will chrome whole parts if they need to be chrome. But the HHR really has only the grill and a few other places with chrome. As already mentioned, a product like Bare Metal Foil can used for the chrome areas. If you've never used this before, its fantastic stuff.

If the grill is seperate and is not chromed, send it to Chrome Tech USA. They specialize in chrome plating model car parts and they do excellent work. If I'm not mistaken, Modelhaus uses them for thier chrome plating.

Just a note on painting resin. With plastic, you can usually get away with painting directly on the plastic after its been washed and preped. With resin, you have to fill in the small holes that are left from the casting process. Then you pretty much have to use a primer and wet sand before shooting the color coat. A bit more work, but not too bad if you're fairly adept at painting model cars.

I'm in for one possibly two depending on the price - also would need to be a panel version.
