New to Forums and here...just purchased a 2007 LT and can't clear code P0604. Was looking at getting a new ECM but when I was going to order was told computer is for a 2.4 and the vin is 2.2.
So question is how can I tell if someone swapped motors at some point or did they just purchase an incorrect ECM and just lived with the light?
Can you visibly see a difference between the two motors?
Thanks!
2007 2.4 is a VVT motor so it would have the camshaft actuator solenoids visible on the front, top of the valve cover.
2007 2.2 is NOT a VVT motor so it won't have those.
Hmm. I got my reference from ChevyMgr's sticky on Diagnostic codes. Not sure what to think after reading Oldblues link.
C'mon Donbrew ! Help us out here.
Here's ChevyMgr's info. I’m thinking, a loose ground wire , or loose pins or wires in the connector to the ECM or try the TCM . Can’t hurt to clean and regrease , with dielectric grease.
remove the battery ground cable while you perform this task.
Don’t forget to put a folded towel over the hatch latch , it’s no fun crawling in to open the hatch.

FYI. Code P0604 pertains to the TCM not the ECM.
Thank you, does look like 2.2.
Have tried grounding both computers housings directly to ground with no change. Live data on the Autel code reader seems like communication is normal.
Called to try ordering a computer at store.allcomputerresources.com when I gave them the ViN and the computer service number he stated the computer number was for a 2.4 liter...
That is why I was reaching out to the experts here...
