2010 HHR roof rack

Hello, I had purchased roof racks on ebay and had to send back because they were suppose to fit my HHR but didn't because the roof is smooth, no slots on either side for the racks to lock into. I am still searching and guess I have to purchase something that I will have to put on myself ( not mechanical at all ) but can't find anything that is reasonably priced and not six hundred bucks Any links would be helpful, thank you. Jim

Are you talking about the cross rails or the rails that bolt into the roof with rivnuts?

There is nothing there just a smooth roof so guess I am talking about the rails that bolt into the roof with rivnuts. Sometimes a piece of furniture, etc. won't fit in the back even with the seats down.

Just make a rack from 2x2 lumber. You can easily tie it to the roof if you leave the windows open.

Well, even if you got a roof rack installed, you can’t put real heavy things up there. The roof structure of the HHR isn’t made for heavy loads.
Sounds like you need to get a hitch installed so you can pull a small trailer.

There are 4 spots on the roof where the "official" roof rack attaches, that is where the rivnuts get placed. Then you need crossrails keeping in mind the max load is less tham 100 LB.
If you are talking about the detachable kind that attaches to the drip rails, I think you might be able to find some that workon an HHR.

A couple of moving blankets under the rack should help. Or horse blankets. I save slabs of foam from old life jackets, but they get dirty when I my wife uses them to protect her knees when gardening.

Can't go wrong when trying to add value to this thread.
