2011 light knocking noise

2011 light knocking noise
In the cool mornings I don't hear the noise. As things warm up I tend to hear a light knock noise. 92,000 and car runs perfect. Could this be a smog pump? Is it serious?

Car doesn't have a smog pump.
Do you have enough oil in the engine ?
Where do you think the knocking is from on the engine ? Right, left, front or back.
92K is about the time the timing chains start to need replacing, which makes a noise.

Thanks for the reply. The oil is full. The light knocking is not a rod noise. It starts after the engine warms up a bit. Car runs so good I hate to mess with anything. But I dont think I should let things go. I am on a fixed income. Is the timing chain replacement expensive? s it some thing I can do?

My air box was missing grommets and would make noises like that - not much when cold, but got clattery after a while. Mine was an SS, but see if it - or anything else - might be able to simply be rattling. The grommets are cheap.
Actually, if it rattles at idle, your job gets easier to identify the source. If it needs a load, it can be tougher.
A timing chain is a big job that you don't really want to do if you don't need to. The guy that did mine dropped the engine down to do it. Not sure if there is room otherwise. Timing chains and piston slap are almost always worse when cold, so they would seem to be less likely. The old GM 3.1 and 3.4 engine had noisy pistons. These don't seem to....

This noise could be the serpentine belt tensioner, the upper engine mount , the air box support bracket...

with the Virus going on and not driving I have put the ole HHR on hold. . I am going to check the air filter . I have always changed oil every 3500 miles. now using Mobile on last 5000 miles.
Car does not even have any black soot in tail pipe. .
