Does the seafoam black up the exhaust tip? Also, tell me how many miles you have on the car and if you would, please give your oil cap and dipstick a sniff. Smell any gasoline smell at all?

Thanks

Don
I think you mean me (MWG2) when you wrote "Dear Dad's HHR" (my license plate reads Dad's HHR). Sniffed my dipstick (that just does't sound right...) anyway, no gas smell.

NO black up the exhaust tip other than normal black sides.

To everyone else: I didn't mean to start a thread that would get people up-in-arms about MPG. I just made an observation about a trip I made last weekend.

Yes Snoopy, 50 miles alone does not make for long time MPG; I just thought it interesting what the mileage was for the trip, that's all.

BTW, I didn't purchase Car 11 because of it's MPG, I purchased it because I love its looks and I love the way it drives. I just thought the 38.5 MPG to and from Gettysburg last weekend was pretty cool.

Peace,

MWG2 aka Barry the DJ aka Bearman aka Dad's HHR aka I love driving my HHR!

Well Mike are you sitting on the 405 for the highway that is why your mileage maybe down .

My around town mileage is not great i think my last tank which i just filled up this morning i averaged 19mpg. that included some highway. But I did average 32-35 mpg when i went to the high desert a few weeks ago so I know the highway mileage is good.

I transposed the numbers. I'm a little tired this evening. Sorry. It was 35.8 MPG, not 38.5.

I've had ~50 mile trips where I could get 38 mpg in my HHR 2.4 auto. Mostly I get around 30 mpg with limited stop and go city miles.

my '08 ls 2.2 w/ a stick gets around 27-29 MPG around town (average speed of less than 30 mph) when i get it out for some trips, i get upto 32-33 MPG (with average MPH around 50 or so) im REAL happy with the results....but i would say 85-90% of my driving is around town......adam
