5 spd HHR

I have the LS 5 spd and according to the manual the HHR comes equiped with an upshift light but the light doesnt turn on in my HHR im wondering if its not connected or if this is for the LT's. I've taken the car up to 6000rpm so I know its not working in mine Im due for an oil change I'll ask the dealer see what they say.

The upshift indicator is located right next to the manual latch for the rear hatch. In other words, non-existent. Evidently GM chose to eliminate both of these items at the last minute, just after printing the manuals. :-(

So the shift light is present in the instrument cluster but it doesn't work. Weird! I have an auto but have noticed the light is present in the dash. I wonder what made Chevy change their minds?

Heh... MONEY!!

GM has lost about $4 billion so far this year.

By skipping the working upshift light, they save about $1 per car. They've built a little over 32,000 HHRs so far....

GM's beancounters are geniuses!!

Nice, implement something and kill it at last minute to save $1 each. They probably wasted more on designing the system than they saved killing it. I wonder how much they saved killing the inside gate release?

Oh, much, much more....

Probably about $1.25 per car!

Disclaimer: These are my "rough" estimates, which are probably pretty accurate!

It amazing how one small part could cost between $1.00 to $2.00.

Do you think if the HHR becomes more popular then the PT, would GM upgrade the car and give us the features that we should of gotten in a newer model.
