Aftermarket audio confusion

I really could use a diagram for the audio connections for a 2011 HHR standard radio. Can anyone help me out?

Are you trying to put back a stock radio, and someone cut off the connector to splice in an aftermarket one?

Good, because if you're trying to install an aftermarket radio, It's a well-known mistake to attempt to make the connections yourself by splicing. The correct adapter is pretty much mandatory.

You'll want a connector cut from a scrap car, too.

Perhaps you’re installing an aftermarket head unit, Crutchfield.com has adapters and such to retain your chimes and turn signal clicks .

I have been looking for the correct adapter to hook up a Boss BVCP9700A unit to my hhr with no luck. I couldn't even find it on Boss' website or crutchfield. Any suggestions? It would sure make things alot simpler having the adapter.

I found a wiring diagram for the 14 pin and 16 pin connectors but it seems like i am missing a few of the wires. The Grey supply voltage that is supposed to be pin 2 on the 14 pin connector is not there. On the 16 pin I am missing R and L audio signal (+) on pins 1 and 2, voice signal and audio common on pins 8 and 9,and voice low ref on pin 16.

Damn I miss the cars from the 70s and 80s!

That frustration in a nutshell, perhaps you could contact Crutchfield or chat with Boss about adapting devices.

I think Crutchfield can make one. Give 'em a call or maybe chat.

Shouldn’t need to be specific to Boss. The correct adaptor is specific to HHR (and certain other GM models,) not to the radio. But yeah, talk to Crutchfield.

But to get the correct adapter, the year, radio RPO and correct VIN help point Crutchfield in the right direction.
