Aftermarket exhaust question...

Wasn't sure if I should post here, 2.4 performance, how-to or what, but here goes...

Thinking of putting an aftermarket exhaust on my '07 and have a question for any do-it-yourselfers. Can the stock exhaust be removed without cutting it? I would like to have the option of re-installing the stock system if I don't care for the aftermarket, once it's on...

Thanks - geo

I don't think so. It would tough to manuever the exhaust in either direction unless you could drop the rear axle low enough. I had a magnaflow catback installed and even with the rear axle hanging they had to cut the pipe to get the stock system out.

I still have the stock sytem in the backyard shed, should I ever go back. The way it was cut looks like any muffler shop will be able to remount and weld it

I believe you could do it but it would require you to drop the rear suspention on the drivers side. remove the lower shock mount and spring..... Maybe the brake line too............

Not really worth it. cut it at a straight point. If you want to reinstall it later. you could use two clamps and a coupling....

Cut it in front of the muffler. Easy to take off and easy for a shop to weld it back on.

A coupling wouldn't work since the pipes would be end to end...
