Unhappy Air Bag Service Light - Intermittent

Aloha everyone,

Have any of you experienced an intermittent Service Air Bag Light message ?
Mine comes and goes, generally occurs on damp/rainy days.
On hot sunny days, no message.
Thx

Welcome.
What year model ? There was a TSB or recall regarding an airbag connection or wire harness in the passenger side kick panel. Will depend on your year model and if it pertains to you.

This is typically (not always) because you have a loose connection to the seat belt under one of your seats. Make sure all the harnesses under the seats are tight.

I was thinking the same thing, FMG. I believe it was 2009 only, for fretting and corrosion in a connector located behind the passenger kick panel.

Google didn't turn up any results other than this site. Maybe GM isn't doing this recall anymore. I got the notice years ago, glad I took care of it promptly.

I had the same issue with the air bag light coming on every now and then in 2014. I disconnected the air bag connection plug behind the passenger side kick panel and cleaned all its contacts with electrical contact cleaner spray. The light hasn't come back since.

Make sure to disconnect the car battery before working on the air bag plug.

Don't touch anything until you wait 25 minutes after battery disconnect. The airbag computer has a capacitor to retain power after shutdown.
