another oil question
another oil question
ok, i have a stupid question. with synthetic oils being able to last alot longer, i have always wondered if there is a problem with the filter lasting as long as the oil without clogging up or at least slowing the flow a little. do you need to get a better filter or is the basic gm filter good enough? i have a 09 ss with only 1300 miles.
so,
it has synthetic from the factory? and do i need a special tool for the filter? i plan on using the gm filter and i will probably buy them from my local dealer. even though this is a small amount, i try to spend my money in my town. i say this because i have thought about ordering a case of them online if i found the right deal. this should also eliminate any possible warantee issues.
Amsoil is the synthetic oil that preaches extended drain intervals. They have always suggested high quality filters, and they recommend a filter change halfway through their extended drain intervals. I think they suggest no more than 12,000 miles on a filter.
catdaddy,
The socket comes as part of a kit, PN SER 41830, which contains a 27mm, 32mm and a 36mm socket. They usually have this kit in stock, lists for $37.39. I had my local NAPA order just the 32mm PN SER 3932 for me and they had it the next day. Still was cheaper than online and no shipping cost, $11.84 total.
