I have
I have a 2010 Chevrolet HHR that the P on gear shifter is lit red when car running and in Park. When I put the car in drive, the P turns yellow. Is that normal. I have never noticed it doing it before and my check engine light is on. Can you tell me what would cause if it’s not normal.

The gear selector shows red where the gear selector is, does the red indicator move when you shift to reverse or drive?
Your local parts palace can check for codes , please just post the code itself , we can take it from there.
example P0014 or P0171 . Many times the parts counter guy will read the code and be incorrect at his diagnosis, and you are left with an electrical part that’s not returnable.
