Automatic or manual

As I look for my HHR (2010, SS Panel) vision, I have to wonder, Should I be adamant about having a standard shift or should I be flexible when considering an automatic. Sticks are more fun but might be more costly when repairing considering I just might, maaaaaaaybe misbehave from time to time.

Far fewer manual transmissions than automatics. But GM did not make any SS panels in 2010. 2009 only.

X2. No SS full panel for 2010. They were only made in 2009 and only 216 were made. Hard to find and usually very pricey.

FYI. The GM Performance Package option( Brembo brakes and Limited Slip diff) was only available on the SS with the 5 speed.
If you're wanting a SS with that package, then you'll need to find a stick model.

Pretty easy to upgrade to Brembos. Many don't want LSD.

Best performance, then you want manual with performance package including LSD and brembos. This is the G85 option code, check the option code list in the glovebox.
In 2008 you could get the LSD without brembos.

Something in favor of the automatic transmission, if I understand correctly. With the auto, you can build and hold boost while in launch control.

Also putting the trans in "I" locks out overdrive and bypasses the speed limiter.
The manual does have "no lift shift" though.

I live in a somewhat rural area, the manual is fun. The few times I've been in metropolitan areas, in stop and go traffic, my left knee was not happy. If I had to deal with that regularly, no question, I'd want the auto version.

There's a speed limiter?
