Automatic Rear window defroster

I tried to find a thread on this, is this something new for 2008.
When start my car remotely, the rear window defroster comes on until I turn the key (when it`s cold, according to the manual).
New for 08, standard for HHR automatics (with remote start)?

My 06 lt2 does it too. auto remote start rear window defroster usually gets mentioned with talk of auto remote start heated seats.

My 2007 does this. It uses the outside temperature sensor, and if the temp is below a certain level, it turns the rear defrost on when you use the remote start. Notice that as soon as you put the key in, the rear defrost turns off. Also interesting to note, the only other thing you can turn on without putting the key in and turning it is the heated seats.

Probably doesn't come on because of where you live.
