Autoweek....compares An Hhr & Mazda 5

The outcome was not in favor of the chevy HHR,but they did say it was a better value for the money.

The mazda has 3 row seating & they seemed to be impressed by that ,and the handling on the mazda.

QUESTION: Does the HHR have too much computer contol over it's handling?

Not to mention the Mazda 5 was recalled the very first month it was out.

Car mags always focus on handling

HHR beat the Mazda in almost every other conceivable way except handling. Personally I like the softer "touring" suspension in this car. If I want sports car handling, I'll drive a Vette not a zoom zoom.

Still, if they wanted to compare apples to apples, why not drive the 2LT with the sports suspension?

I still enjoyed the article - any publicity is good publicity. The one comment that bothered me though was the rental comment - hope HHR rentals are limited (surest way to drive down resale values is to have tons out there in rental fleets).

But now owning a HHR, I can honestly say I enjoy this car more every day.

The HHR doesn't really have any computer control over handling. Computer-controlled handling examples are Autoride shocks (like on my Suburban) or Stabilitrak (where the computer is heavily involved in the handling at extreme manuevers to prevent loss of control).

Indirectly, ABS brakes and the electric power steering have some effect on the handling.

The anti-sway bar from SoCalHHR should improve the handling. Mine is still in the box awaiting installation this weekend.
