Faster than our Mazda

Last night me and the wife had both cars out at the same time. We were cruising down a street at about 11:30 at night. No cars around. We were running 45 and I said to her on three step on it and run it up to 65 and back off. She was in our new Mazda and me in the HHR.

So we step on it. Mine kicks up through the gears quicker and I start pulling away. Her bumper was right by the passenger back door. I heard the rpms come up. (for whatever reason it takes an extra full second for hers to downshift and start pulling). When it finally does the Mazda stayed even to about 50. Then bye bye I went. The HHR just kept on pulling away all the way to 65. With the intake and the cat and resonator gone it does pull pretty good in the high rpm range. It's no SS, but it pulls good.. It takes off at about 3500 and pulls harder all the way to the redline.
Funny thing is the Mazda is about 150 pounds lighter. Anyway thought I'd share. I don't race much but I found it cool that it will whip up on our Mazda.

Now a standing start is a different story. Mine just spins the tires. By the time it hooks I can't catch up. But on a rolling start she's pretty quick.

Left two black stripes the other night by the four way stop by our house. :

It's a Mazda 3.. Nuff said? No offense implied or otherwise.. I like Mazda's but I don't expect too much from the 3's.

I actually was surprised. The 3 is pretty quick. I love my HHR. But if I had to get something else. I'd grab me another 3. Probably a speed if I coudlnt get my hands on an SS HHR. It's a blast to drive around though. Like an oversized go-kart.

I still have to drive the hhr to work everyday. 20 miles round trip. Other than that the mazda will get used for most everything else.

Na. She likes the mazda. shes like a little kid though. When she drives the hhr she always drives it hard. She loves the sound of the intake and exhaust.

My wife too,.....since I put the new exhaust on the SS, I haven't seen much of it. I guess she likes the new sound track, my Daughter say's she has been putting her foot in it. I don't think I will try and catch Her in the panel.

My wife's 06 LT will outrun my El Camino (1983 V6 AT) but when I/we want to go fast, we take the other car.....
