Backup Lights

Hi newbie here, I've seen some discussions about backup lights not working but not my specific issue.

2008 LT Panel 2.2/auto; backup lights blows fuse 46, bulbs are good, just replaced Neutral Safety Switch.

Are there any LEDs involved? Has the wiring been disturbed, like trailer wiring installed etc.

Welcome to the site, just to clarify, did you use 921 bulbs, have you changed them ?

I wonder if somebody didn't splice the lt green (bu) wire into the dk green (rt stop) wire thus getting 24V when you put it into reverse.

Have you checked the other lights?

It usually has to do with corrosion in the lamp fixture arcing when the light is activated.

You're going to have to explain this. You have 12 volts to each bulb. How does it become a series circuit to make 24 volts ?
Also he stated the bulbs are OK. You would think if 24 volts were applied it would burn out the filaments.
If the fuse is blowing I would look for short to ground.

Update

I cannot see any evidence of the wiring having been tampered with. The fuse blows even with the lamps removed, there isn't any sign of corrosion at the socket assemblies.. I also disconnected the interior rear view mirror (someone posted a wiring diagram on this forum that showed the inside rear view mirror as being part of the backup lamp supply voltage logic). I guess if I can't find a pinched wire I'll have to run a new wire to the neutral safety switch.

Many thanks for all of your help thus far.

PS: Working backup lamps are required for NYS Inspection.

Look you have a problem with the back up circuit. Interior lights are not part of the circuit that's giving you the problem.
Let's backtrack to find out why you changed what you did, and go from there.
What made you think to change the neutral safety switch ?

.That is voltage to the mirror if you have a BU camera.

Note there are 2 wires from the fuse box to the back up lamps
BATT+ (from the run/start relay) goes to fuse #47 then to the neutral switch
power from the neutral switch connect to the fuse box at connector X1 pin C4 Then out to the lamps on connector X2 pin E6

THIS IS x1

THIS IS X2
