That is the unfortunate truth about saving weight. But hey, at least the are not like a Saturn - PLASTIC.

I'd rather have plastic. Have you ever seen a rusted out Saturn?

Keep in mind, not only weight savings but stamping efficiency requires thinner metal for the panels. The bulk of the body weight is reserved for the safety cage and engine/suspension supports.

Just My opinion, but I think(hope) its kind of a testament to todays technology. That We can have a 5 star crash rated vehicle, using minimal outer panel steel.

Mos assuredly the case... the sheetmetal is just 'skin' ... but I was hoping that it couldn't be so easily bent with minimal (and I mean minimal) finger pressure

Nothing wrong with plastic body panels. The Saturn technology that everyone raved about actually started with the Pontiac Fiero, although Pontiac didn't get the marketing push for it that Saturn got. I love the fact that I don't have to worry about little dents and dings in my Fieros. I love the fact that if a body panel gets damaged I can just pop it off and pop on a new one in a matter of a couple of hours. AND I love that I can pop all the body panels off and put a fiberglass body on it to make it look like a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or any number of exotic cars...

Never really thought about the thickness, or lack thereof, of the sheet metal. I am contiplating the shaved door handle mod. Think it would be sweet

Enduraflex goes all the way back to the 60s. Looks real good on the front of my 69 GTO Judge!

I had a Fiero, damn thing never dented, or rusted.

The thin sheet metal would be OK if they didn't install those grocery cart magnets at the factory.
