Beltronics Vector fx1

Has anyone tried the Beltronics version of the G-Tech. I have found a site that sells the Vector FX1 for $81.79 plus $7.95 for shipping. This is the base model that is not downloadable but does everything the G-Tech does. The price seems right and I know Beltronics has been around a long time with their radar detectors. I would still like to know if anyone has tried one though.

No, but for $82 you are only getting storage for 1 run. That means you will have to write down the info, clear the unit's memory, and do your next run. A big hassle when doing testing as you usually need several runs to get an average reading. the G-Tech SS model stores 20 runs - that's just enough for me.

The G-Tech also measures engine rpm's, torque and shift points - which allows it to plot horsepower & torque curves (*displays them onscreen too!). If you look on eBay, you can sometimes find G-Tech SS's for around $150. That's not much more than the Beltronics for a lot more features. I think the G-Tech mount is much better too - and a sturdier mount will net you more acurate readings.

Oh, BTW - the G-Techs' have 3 Accelerometers (X, Y, & Z axis'), while the Beltronics only have 2 (X/Y). Better accuracy with 3.

Just my $0.02

I think I'll go ahead and get the G-Tech pro SS instead.
