Somewhere I saw an ad for an electronic light of some kind that claimed to render your plate illegible when shot by photocop machines without putting any kind of cover on it. To the naked eye, tag looks normal. I don't know if it was a rip-off or for real. They don't have photocops around here anyway.
Funny this was mentioned.. I just watched the Mythbusters episode on these "picture evading" products for license plates.. All of them they used didn't work...
I don't know how much faith you put into Mythbusters findings, but this one was pretty straightforward.. They had a street camera on a boom-lift and a test car (Dodge Neon). They applied the products to the license plate one at a time, and drove through the camera's motion sensory. Every picture taken was rendered legible.

I don't care if you speed reasonably, but I'd like to give some drivers a wood-shampoo when they run a light. I've seen it too damn often around here. Watched a '69 Firebird almost get wiped out just yesterday, because someone didn't yield.
