The weirdest thing happened. I went for a ride and my HHR was acting fine. It was either a freak occurrence or I was a freak.

 

Nina, by your description it sounds like your rotors are warped. After reading a lot about the HHR the rotors quality does seem to be a weak point. There have been more than a handful of complaints already although my HHR isn't doing it...yet. My suggestion would be to swing it by the dealer and get them to check it out.
