Which to buy?

Looking at a couple different options at the moment, one is a 2008 LT w/ the 2.4L, 23000 miles, white w/ ebony interior, pretty well decked out. the other is a charcoal gray (bright titanium?) 09 LS with 12,000 miles on it. Price is the same on both. New to the HHR, so any thoughts are appreciated. Should I go with the 09 with less miles, or go a year older and get more goodies but also more miles?

I say the 2SS Camaro. Oh wait that wasn't an option.

Either one, Both have the same warranty but the 2LT has more features.

I know that in 09, ABS, Traction control, stability control, and side airbags were standard. Does the 08 LT have those? I don't know if that factors in to your decision.

I'm going to go give the 08 LT another look over after work, just wanted to ask the experts what to look for (especially vs the 09). I know the LT is better equipped, but didn't know for sure what the base changes were from 08 to 09

Does the LT have XM Sat. Radio? I just renewed for another year.

I know the 2009 have a nifty USB port.

The usb only comes standard on the SS, i believe, but can be added to the other models for $100 or so. (Might also be standard on 2lt but not sure)

Hi Dakota, I tried both the 2.2l and the 2.4l before buying, and I felt the 2.4l was worth the money. However, I've owned only V-8's before this, and your view may be different. The 2.4 also tends to pack the 2LT with its goodies. I personally like the chrome, running boards, etc. My 09 did come with the window switches on the door, stability control, etc. All of those are nice to have, but I was also looking at '07's and '08's in the 2.4l, and just happened to get a good deal from Kenly Chevrolet here in NC on an '09. I guess I am saying I'd rather have the big engine first. Yes, mine is white too. God Bless, Marc

I did like the 08 LT, took it for a drive last night. Good power for a 4 cyl, and the quick check fuel run of 34 on the highway and 26 in town sure beats the 17/21 I'm getting with my Equinox right now. The biggest gripes I see in that particular 08 is that even though its a 2LT they didn't have the OnStar, and it had cloth seats (I believe it was a rental, so they probably removed those options when they ordered it), and it doesn't have the side airbags, which the 09's should all have I believe. I don't like where they put the window buttons on the console, looks to be a pain in the butt if you're in park. (I'm nitpicking, I know, but just an observation). I all but had a Cardinal Red 08 bought last week, but one of the other salesmen sold it out from under the guy I was working with. My guy emailed me last night and said they found me an 09 with 12K miles yesterday, but don't have any more details yet. Gonna have to go see what they found after work today.

Well, if all goes according to plan, by the end of the day I'll have the 08 LT and be a proud HHR owner. Then its time to start on the customizing...

Mine is a white 2.4l, so I am biased, but you made a good choice. :-) Photos soon please.
