I bought a used HHR, carfax said first owner bought in California. Do these HHR's have any less power for emission purposes than ones sold in other states? Just curious.

they are 50 state legal, so they dont need to make 2 versions of every single model

 

Sandmanse7en..I have a '07 Panel Wagon LT, Victory red. I got it brand new from a dealer going out of business north of Spokane in Aug. '09 for $12,000, a great deal. I.ve had retro style pin stripping with (almost invisible) flames incorporated into the hood. I had a 4" tip put on the tail pipe and painted the muffler flta high heat black. If I travel I put on my colgan braw (hood, front bumper and mirrors) and remove it when I get there, they are very easy to install. I also have 17" inferno chrome wheels, and will be installing '08 Cobalt SS
rear springs to level out the body, much cheaper using GM than after marhet ( get 1" drop). They cost about $65ish plus $30 shipping from GM's site.

 

We all get the same engines. Seldom do they do special engines for California only anymore.

 

Well it depends. If the previous owner went to a California medical marijuana dispenser, ground up the marijuana, then liquidfied it and poured it into the gas tank, your car will move slower at same RPMs as compared to other HHR engines. Also, don't be surprised if the engine convinces the front suspension to pull into 7-11 stores parking lots; it's looking for munchies.

 

OK, well that's good. I've seen and heard about some California cars getting less standard horsepower because of various laws there.

 

Nice purchase, I am guessing that it has the 2.4L. There should be no difference in performance. I mean based on your altittude you may notice a slight difference but GM wouldn't make two models because it would be too coslty. I like what I'm hearing about your ride you should post some pics.

 

There may be a stray here or there but it is not that common. Most MFG try to meet the 50 state standard to save cost. To get a car cerified it very costly. Note even the Turbo upgrade kit from GM was done for all 50 states to save cost.

This is also why they get upset when California comes up with some proposed goofy standard. If it were not for the great number of sales in California the MFG would just stop selling there if they got out of hand.
