Can't start. Changed the battery - some clicking and whistle - what could be?

Came home. Shut off the engine - after 10 minutes wanted to drive to a store and it couldn't start.
Bought a new battery, used jump starter - nothing. Replaced relay - nothing - just some clicking and noise(like a whistle) on the trunk and under the hood. And some clicking under the hood.
Now will try to remove the starter and inspect it. How to check it - just put 12V and see what going to happen? I'm afraid something serious(like valves) - but drove home without any problems...
Some advice?
What can I check?
Will clean contacts next to fuses box - but it shouldn't clicking and make some noise if the contacts are bad - right?

Which lug did you connect to to jump start it! That rear lug on the left side of the fuse box under the hood is for the EPS , so inspect the fuse panel and relays

what do u mean - could u explain, please? I connected right to the main battery terminals. But now I took out the starter, tried to connect 12V and it doesn't spin.

Take it to your local parts palace, they can bench test it.

sometimes people use the wrong lug to put the jumper cables

Under here at the fuse box

Not this rear lug by the master cylinder

Just pop the cover and check to ensure these two cables are secure

Just checked the starter - looks like solenoidmakes that whistle noise - what it could be?
May I disassemble it and see some broken part inside - like ball bearing or something? Is it possible to replace just the solenoid?

Before I cleaned all those connectors that u showed on the pictures. But it's obviously starter...

Then simply buy a new or rebuilt starter, if you order from RockAuto, we have a discount code.

Applying 12V to the starter does not prove anything. That big red wire is 12V already. Applying 12V to the small terminal on the solenoid should make a click and turn the motor. If it does not you may replace the starter-solenoid assembly.

If it is not obvious you can just place a jumper between the 2 posts. The B+ is hot at all times (be careful). The S is a 12V signal from the computer to activate the solenoid.

Just finished to disassemble - inside was a lot of grease and part of ring that holds brushes on the starter's back lid was brocken and coper wires was deattached. Thath's the main reason.
How does the grease(oil+dust?) went inside the starter???
Could I bought somewhere just the back lid with brushes? Or better to buy whole used starter(anyway - wil not know the condition inside).

Is the starter the same in all the models(mean the years)?

Oldblue 12-14-2018 04:15 PM

Tell your parts counter guy, what year and engine size you have.
dont mess around with a used possibly just as bad as this, they are not that expensive
under $150.00

On eBay they start new at $31.00 free shipping. Used start at $28.00.

The oil/grease is probably from a leaking oil pressure switch or a long list of slpoppy oil changes.
