CGS cold air intake

Hi, my name is Joe. I recently purchased a CGS cold air intake for my 2007 2.4L HHR. When the car is parked and i rev up the engine, it will climb to 4,000 rpm and then will not go higher. It sounds like it just starts to choke or something. One import tuner guy told me to disconnect battery and then connect after 20 seconds. He said it will reset the ECU in the car and then told me i had to take the car to a straight away and get it at high speed and rpm to fix the problem. Does anyone have a clue as to why my HHR does this?

resetting your ECU is a good idea. don't know if it will fix the prob or not. but reset it and take it for a test drive and see if it helps.

You are probably and auto trans.

Rev limiter is set to 4,000 RPMs when in park or neutral.

Resetting the ECM is BS. All that does is reset the fuel trims. It will learn back or learn for changes either way.

Yeah, resetting the ECM helps in some cases (reset fuel trims, clear codes after fixing or if you have too many codes and want to find the initial code/problem) but as he said the limiter is set to 4k. No codes? Run fine when in gear?
