Changing Trans Fluid

Hi All - So, my 2011 2LT has 88,000 miles on it now. No issues - runs as good as the day I bought it (new). It still has the original transmission fluid. I think that after a certain time, you might be better off leaving well enough alone, when it comes to trans fluid (I've heard that sometimes it will bring up problems if you wait too long to change it, so just leave the old fluid in there). At 88k miles, have I reached that point, or should I change it ASAP ? Thoughts ? Opinions ?

The owners manual directs us to leave it alone.

The reason the owners manual tells us to leave it alone, is because it is designed to out last the warranty and that makes the cost of ownership go down and any problems that happen after the warranty are on you.

But I believe, like any fluid it should be changed. Just like how older cars used to have a dipstick for the transmission and regular scheduled fluid changes.

If you waited too long it can still be changed just not flushed. Flushing your transmission will cause problems and that is all the dealer will perform so, if you are going to have it done, take it to a transmission shop or do it yourself.

but, then again oldblue has over 400,000 miles on his car, so the next question is if he has ever changed it or had it rebuilt in that time?

If I was going to worry about changing fluids; Dexcool every 5 years, brake fluid every 5 years, Dexron VI after 100,000 miles, oil when the monitor says.

Basically, I would read and heed my Owner Manual. And the hundreds of posts on the internet (here).

Do we really need to go over this road again? I am considering just closing this thread for over redundancy.
