Chrome pen

There is a "chrome pen" now at arts and craft stores that paints chrome on plastic. I watched a youtube with someone using it on a plastic toy and the results looked good. Has anyone tried it on pkastic car chrome to repair worn off chrome?

I've never used them but I doubt it's weatherproof...

It is made for plastic models. I have heard some good results with it. The next time I see one of the IPMS members that use it I will ask them if it can be clear coated. The pens come in 4 widths from 1mm to 4mm. If you use it keep the chrome to a single coat if you try to go back over it it will mess up.

Ok thanks. The edge of the top of my gear shift knob has a spot where the chrome has worn off and im thinking of trying it there. The youtube I watched did say it takes a long time to dry completely

It does a remarkable job of simulating plastic chrome. It can be used indoors or outdoors but it needs to dry for 24 hours to be completely durable. I can still see the jagged edge of the factory peel though so i may sand it with emery cloth and redo it

Looks like model builds like to use it.
