Chrome Script Retro Chevrolet emblems?

Hi Folks, I need some advice from the older Chevy restoration folks here. I want to add the '50's script chrome CHEVROLET emblems to my new '09's hood. I would like to know which of the old logos was the smallest in length? I see '54 trunk emblems, '55-'56 210 fender emblems, '57 6-cylinder sized emblems, and ones for continental kits as well. They all look the same: script but with the line along the bottom. Does anyone know which of these is the smallest? Also, who makes the best quality repros?
I have really enjoyed learning about HHR's by reading these forums before I bought. Neat cars. I really need a back mat though as things really slide around in the rear section.
God Bless, Marc

I don't have the size but a friend of mine put emblems on his hood and they are the best yet I have seen.

I believe they are from the quarter panel of a 1957 210 Chevy coupe. They are the Chevy script and are the perfect shape for the HHR hood.

I have seen others but these are still the most stock looking as if GM had put them on at the factory.

As for quality any of the name brand repo companies are fine. Just keep away form the no name places as the quality may very with price.

I have even considered the Fuel injection script from a 57 Chevy or late 50's Vette as an original idea I have yet see anyone do yet.

Here is the script I used (not written script) from a 1949 Suburban truck. It's 1 1/2" X 9' and I think it looks good. There was no written style script for the 1949 Chevrolet that I'm aware of. The HHR (Heritage High Roof) is based on a 1949 Suburban passenger-panel truck. Now having said all that, it matters not what I do, or another member does, it only matters what you want to do, and are happy with.

Many thanks to all who have pitched in so far. Uncle Dannie, yes, those early "deco" badges are truly appropriate and look way cool on your hood. I have been looking at the emblems folks have installed, and I think I agree with your placement of paralleling the body break line. If they follow the fender top, they look "low in the tail" to my eye. I haven't decided yet, but am leaning towards a chrome '57 script. The '55-'56 script looks way cool too. I am surprised that I haven't seen anyone add the '57 dash script to the passenger side dash. I am thinking lined up even with the height of the right vent, and centered on the dash pad. I wonder what is behind there when drilling......? These cars and Forum sure are fun. :-) God Bless, and thanks to all for any and all advice, Marc

When i removed my 'HHR' from the hatch I placed it on the dash with new doublesided 3m auto tape placement is to the right and lined up just about to the bottom of the vent. I thinks it looks good and it reminds me of early chevys that advertised Chevrolet in this location.....

What I did was split the difference. Sorry, no pics. I'll have to take some.

From my measurments you need to split the differance as neither line is correct. The upper line is close but the lower line is way off.

I have seen them on the lower line and they look like they are going up hill.

The best thing to do is find the center area and use a small level to get it right. Note the car also needs to be on level ground to do this.

Hey UncleDannie, Did you get yours off of ebay? Do you remember the seller?
I've been looking for this emblem, and haven't seen it for a couple of weeks.
I've searched:
HHR decal
HHR emblem
HHR hood
Chevrolet hood
