The sunroof does take away some of the headroom.

I am 6'3 or 6'4, getting shorter as I get older? Anyway, when I bought my 06, I had to get one without the sunroof, totally did not fit. But I know for a fact the power seats do sit a little higher. Todd (Uma)

I'm a little over 6'4" and wear a ball cap alot of the time. I don't ever have a problem (power leather seats), and Dory's even got the sunroof.

I'm 4'2" and my head hits the roof too and I have the power leather seats!! I cut out a section of the headliner and now everything is fine. Pretty soon I will figure out how to reach the pedals and I will finally drive the HHR. In the mean time, I just sit in the car and pretend to be driving.

Seriously, I have the same situation (I'm 6'). The HHR I rented did NOT have a sunroof and I was fine in that. Car 11 has a sunroof and YES my hair touched the headliner so...Believe it or not, I got my hair cut short and now my hair doesn't touch the headliner. Ah the things I so for my HHR...

Peace,

Man! If your head touches the ceiling, I bet you have a hell of a time seeing traffic lights. I'm 5'11" and my head does not touch but I still have to lean forward to see traffic signals.

Yea, that sunroof really eats up a lot of head room, that's why I bought mine without it. Without it I felt the car had a lot more room in it.

Yeah, these days most cars with a sunroof have them sliding up and above the roof, while the hhr has it sliding inside the headliner. I am 6' and although I wasnt brushing the headliner, it did feel cramped to me. I decided not to get the sunroof.
Im betting it is possible to lower the seats, as they do stand high with quite a bit of room underneath. Has anyone found a way to exchange the seat base/stand?

TRAFFIC LIGHTS??? You mean there are traffic lights??? THAT is why folks give me the one finger salute when I drive through intersections. Ok...I will start bending my head down and looking for traffic signals. Thanks for the "heads-up." (Bad pun, I know!!)
