DSM discontinued???

Went to the local dealership today to see if they got a Panel in, what colors, options, etc... and was told that Dark Silver Metallic was no long in production! WHAT?! Checked on Chevy's site and found the same thing. All the other colors except the bright blue and DSM! Odd. I see more DSM around Tucson than any other color! Turns out the dealer here said they were having problems with "picky" customers saying the paint looked "clouded" and "unfinished." The service manager came out to try and show me on my vehicle to see if mine was the same. With a fresh wash and wax I was ready to show off! He showed me on my rear quarters where the "clouding" occured most visible. I told him I thought it made the paint look "marble-ized" and thought that was what it was supposed to look like. I was still confused. Oh well. Guess I'm not that picky! I still love my HHR no matter what! If anyone else has heard anything differnet please let me know! Thanks!

The information I got was that Dark Silver and Majestic Amethyst were discontinued to make room for the production of the HHR Panel. Also, Sport Red will not be available on the Panel, but Victory Red will be an exclusive color to the Panel. As for the paint finish, I previously had 2 Chevy's that were Bronzemist in color and the paint finish on both of the cars was very uneven, especially on the sides of the roof where it was not a uniform color. My Silverstone HHR seems to have "thin" paint on the doors, but it depends on the angle that you look at it. It doesn't bother me because the paint is very smooth (no orange peel) and has a fantastic shine as do all the HHR colors.

Like the Blues before us, that just makes our DSM's more unique - it's odd that the majority of HHR's I see on the road that are owner-occupied are a variety of colors, and a good number of rental HHR's that I see are DSM's. I'm happy with my HHR thus far, paint and all!

Looks like I now have a rare HHR.

Is there a way to find out the final production numbers by color?

Is this a MY '08 thing? Because DSM is still an available color for '07 in Canada. Maybe they did stop production and what's on the market now is all that's left, I don't know. Anyhow there are DSM '07 around.

Yves

hmmm, correction: DSM is no longer available when you build on line. So it is discontinued in Canada. Dealer inventories are showing some DSM '07 available, so some were built.

That stinks. I'm going to have to make a decision on summit white or cappuccino frost. I'm going to order my HHR tomorrow.
