Ok so 07 2.4. Original exhaust trashed out.. replaced with headers, zip 3" ss down pipe and full 3" zip ss system.. had it for a little over a year, wife hates how loud the drone is...

What are some options to lessen the drone but keep some exhaust sound?

 

Turn up the radio!
get her a set of headphones.
change the exhaust system

Thats about the only options , #1 is least expensive.

 

Maybe put in a real muffler and patch in a resonator.

 

Or
quit taking the wife with you.

Yes sir, mixed with new headers and new zzp down pipe.

 

What would a shop use as a "factory replacement" for the 2 LT... The original muffler flowed rather well and was quite. Yeah it would need an adapter and it would cut your flow a tad, doubt you would notice the performance hit... Might quiet it down enough.
