Factory Alarm System?
Hi folks, I bought a 2008 LT1. Looking at the broshure for the 2008 model year it shows that the car has a alarm system as standard equipment.
Well after noticing that arming the system and opening the door wouldnt set the alarm off, i made an appointment at my dealer to see why. He hooked up the Tech 2 reader to it and it showed that the alarm was inactive.
They took the car to the back and after 5 minutes brought it back to me and said that the car does not have a alarm module installed that my car was a LT1 and it was an optional equipment.
Could this be true if it came with one as standard equipment and they are just jacking me around? How is one to tell what trim level you have, is it by vin#?

take the VIN, go to:

Enter the VIN, and see what options come up. It also decodes them for you, and ideally, it'll tell you if the alarm was standard (if it isn't listed, it might still be in there as OEM/Standard equipment, but I'm praying it'll come up on the list).

Mine is a 2008 2LT and has the alarm.
I found out by locking the car with the hood only partially closed, I had Locked my Panel, and noticed I had left the hood partially closed/latched so I Opened the hood so I could fully close it and the Horn started beeping.
I thought I hit the Panic button on the fob, but hitting it again did not stop the beeping. I think I hit the unlock button and it stopped.
I do notice a blinking Lock on the dash after hitting Lock twice on the fob at night.
I Gotta RTFM ! So I know just what all I have. LOL

My ls came with an alarm. Found out when I locked the door with the windows down and when I went to get back in I just pulled up the lock and opened the door the alarm went off. First car Ive had with an alarm so it threw me off a for minute while I tried to turn it off.
