Firedog HHR Panel

Finally, the Firedog HHR was back and the sun was shining so I got some pictures with my cellphone. The sun was almost too bright at this time. But, here they are.

Hey, I'm curious as to how the rear side doors open. I didn't see a handle on the outside.

The read side doors are "suicide doors". To open them you have to open the front door, and use a latch on the inside of the rear door.

Suicide doors are doors that open the opposite of normal doors. I though the rear doors on the panel still opened in the usual direction.

I thought they were actual suicide doors. Could be wrong.

Nice Panel but Short Circuit City can kiss my redneck butt. The customer service at the ones around here is the pits.I am anxiously awaiting for a BestBuy to be completed near here.

They're NOT suicide doors. There are switches for them on the dash.

We'll take some pics tomorrow since Weber Chevrolet is letting us "borrow" one for the day!

I really love the clean lines without the door handles. I almost wish they had done that on the regular HHR.

I agree with you, Honest Blues, about Circuit City. I just had new speakers put in my minivan. The installation was almost half the cost of the speakers. However, we have Moe's, Office Depot, and Books-a-Million in the same shopping center. Those are our normal destinations.

Well...it's been my lucky week. Henry went by a dealership Thursday and spotted the same thing. So when I got off work last night, we went by and there were 2 panel HHR. The FireDog Panel and a white one like I saw at a dealership on Thursday. Didn't have my digital with me, so I used my cell phone, so the pics are great...but here they are anyway.

As has been said, the doors are not suicide doors and are opened by buttons in the front driver and passenger compartments. On the drivers side, there are buttons for both rear doors in an area below the vent near the door. There is another one for the rear passenger door in the same place on that side of the car as well.

I "hear" that GM is going to add the door opening switch to the keyfob in '08. That would really be cool. I wonder if it will be an easy retrofit?
