First Trip

After having the car for almost 3 weeks and getting to put a measley 345 miles on it, I finally tonite got to drive it to my folks. It was a 2 hour drive, about 130 miles. I had wanted my first good drive to be in the daylight but that didn't happen.

What stood out for me were these things.

I enjoyed driving the car. Comfortable, smooth, all that jazz. It will take a while to get used to not feeling like I'm driving a go-kart. GM's idea of a sport suspension is different from what I've been driving. The car has a real solid feel to it.

I averaged right around 65 (no cruise) and got to my folks with a 31.4MPG on the DIC.

The console on the car just won't do. Some vendor out there is gonna make a fortune on an upgrade component. My guess is GM will address this in the not too distant future. Just get rid of the armrests and put some type of overlay on the existing console that has some storage. Adding a power adapter to it would be helpful also. I know there's one on the back passenger side but it's inconvenient for front passengers.
Obviously this is a sore spot with me....

Rear overhead lighting. Unless I open the door going down the interstate, there was no way I could see the animals in the back. I travel with 3, I occasionally like to keep my eye on them.

Rear fold down seats have no carpeting on the back. Everything I put on top of them slid around. Including the animals. That I should be able to fix with a piece of carpet fabric.

The DIC is really nice. In this day and age there's no reason for cars not to have them. My last one didn't, and it was an '04.

I like satellite radio. Although I've had Sirius for a long time, it's nice to have a reason and opportunity to get to listen to XM. GM giving me 3 free months gives me enough time to see if I'm sold or not without having to invest in a Sirius system.

Good visibility. Like the Toyota RAV I had, I can see out all around the car with the placement of the windows. (Unfortunately, I still backed over a telephone pole with the RAV, what a mess).

Power driver seat. Got 'em on my picku-up, love 'em.

Oddly enough, I'm glad I got the side air bags and OnStar. They may be overkill (no pun intended), but I just get a sense of security with those options on the car.

Where are my aftermarket pieces?
