Front Brakes......update

I have about 20K miles on my car & I started getting this grinding noise when I would abruptly apply the brakes.(sounds like metal to metal). So I'm thinking I need new brakes, because i am kinda rough on things.
I take it to the dealer & he says there is still 70% of the pads left, and that he has another HHR in the repair shop with the same problem.
Bottom Line: They are holding my car an extra day & will get some special pads that will fix this problem.(NO CHARGE TO ME)

Has anyone else encountered this?

Yall were trippin about that rockin stuff when fully stopped with foot on the brakes.

Thanks in advance!

I had a brake grinding noise on my 2003 Malibu.

After getting new pads and rotors it was still there, so it was likely the back brakes in my case.

They couldn't find .......

what was causing the grinding noise,so they resurfaced my rotors & installed new pads. All at no coast=under factory warranty. I hope this will not become a recall issue.

It's weird. My car had a noisy brake phase between 19k and 28k on the odo, then it went away. Most GM cars I've owned have noisy brakes anyway.

Well, it wasn't a constant noise, just a squeal here and there. Never had a pulsing problem, but my car doesn't have ABS, either.
